The Energize NY contractor rating system combines data gathered from homeowner surveys, BPI accreditations, the number of local jobs completed and an evaluation of each company's business model to calculate a score for each Energize Comfort Corps member.
A score of 5.0 is the highest possible rating in our scale. Scores under 4.0 are below average. Scores above 4.5 represent top performers. Energize NY releases updated contractor scores once a year. Scores posted on our website reflects the contractor's most recent standing. The Contractor Scores were last updated on October 24th, 2017.
All Home Performance professionals in the Energize NY Comfort Corp. will perform the same comprehensive home assessment, as outlined by NYSERDA’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program guidelines. Regardless of which contractor you choose, your assessment will include a blower door test, efficiency testing of all combustion equipment, health and safety analysis, and a visual inspection of the living area, attic, basement and crawl spaces. When reaching out to contractors, please refer to our list of questions to ask your prospective home performance professional.
Energize NY encourages you to do your research before signing a contract.
The fine print: Energize NY is not responsible for determining the appropriate contractor for your upgrade. By establishing these contractor eligibility criteria, Energize NY is not recommending a particular contractor.
